The
Mission
of Stubblefield Learning Center is to maintain a high performance,
work-relevant, non-traditional school for the 21st Century that
motivates, encourages and prepares students for success in school,
in the workforce, and in life. |
| Eligibility
for attendance to Stubblefield Learning Center: |
- live in
one of the five participating school districts in Angelina County
(Central, Diboll, Hudson, Lufkin, or Zavalla);
- be between
16 & 21 years of age and no longer enrolled in an accredited
high school or have been determined at-risk of dropping out
of school;
- be granted
a referral from their home school principal and/or counselor.

The
Program for Stubblefield Learning
Center is based on flexibility and personalized self-paced courses.
All basic academic courses, plus a wide variety of vocational
classes, are offered at SLC. School hours vary
according to work schedules and classes are available Monday -
Thursday, 7 AM to 5 PM and Friday, 7AM to 3 PM. Students are required
to attend classes four hours a day, 5 days a week. Each student
will earn a diploma from their home school and are expected to
participate in the SLC Commencement Program.
Stubblefield Learning Center is a TEA accredited school and an
extension of the five school participating school districts in
Angelina County. |

The
mission of the Diboll Family Education Center of
Diboll ISD is to offer center-based instruction
for families. The mission will be accomplished through a developmentally
appropriate, research-based program that stresses the acquisition
of skills in the areas of parenting, adult basic education,
and early childhood education. Additionally,
a wide range of Health and Human Services will be offered
as a prevention and intervention model to support the access
of each family unit. To this end, Diboll Family Education
Center is dedicated to the belief that all children and
adults, serviced by its program, can achieve and reach their
full potential by learning key academic, social, occupational, and
employability skills. |

- Anyone
17 years of age and older, not enrolled in a public
school
- Have
a child from 0-7 years of age
- Educationally
and socio-economically disadvantaged
- Live
in the Diboll ISD school district

- Adult Education-learner focused education for classes
- Parenting Education-assistance to parents to help their children improve academically and socially
- Provide research-based education for 3 year olds with trained certified teachers through the
TEEM Grant
- Early Childhood Education-Classes readiness and motor/sensory development classes for children

The
Diboll Family Education Center has established objectives in order to provide a quality program and to meet the
state and Federal adult education performance measures.
The success of the Family Literacy Center is built upon existing resources within
the community. Our community partners include the Diboll Housing
Authority, Angelina College Adult Education Cooperative, T.L.L.
Temple Memorial Library, Temple-Inland Forest Products Cooperation
and the Diboll Police Department. These partners, plus many other
service organizations, assist the Center throughout the year and
make possible the many SPECIAL
ACTIVITIES of the Diboll Family Education
Center. |
