TEEM Teacher Observations
When school began, we had a room full of little ones who had never been in a school environment and many had not been away from Mom before. The students were sad, had no understanding of how school worked, or why they had to be here. Many cried for most of the day and told us numerous times they wanted to go home.
As the weeks have flown by us, we now come into a happy classroom full of smiling children. They are excited to learn each day and often do not want to go home after school! Their favorite time of day is centers with group music being a close second.
Our class has learned so much in the first six weeks of school. Social behaviors such as walking in line, respect to others, and keeping our hands to ourselves were major accomplishments for us. Independence has blossomed in our students with all now using the restroom independently, moving in and out of centers without redirection, and personal responsibility such as putting things away. Our students have also started using words to express themselves, vocalizing their emotions, which is a large developmental milestone for three year olds.
We have now started teaching our curriculum. We are learning a letter, shape, and color each week. We also have math enrichment and phonological awareness activities daily. We are looking forward to so much learning, fun, and success!
